The diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia, which is one of the commoner anemias in this, country, is not so simple as was generally believed, when the causative factors were not well known, especially in cases where the blood cells, hemoglobin and serum iron levels showed the normal values. Actually, this has been our experience in patients giving impressions of neurosis or in patients in the initial stagee of tuberculosis who in the iron loading test, turned out to be Waldenstroem´s so-called "larvierte Eisenmangelanaemie". Recent studies by Huff, et al, using radioactive iron Fe59, have given much contributions to the research of the intermediate iron metabolism.
